I just read this book called the living by matt de la pena it is kind of a great book. I will be reading the second book to the living because it was good, The book was about a young boy from california and his grandpa died from a disease and his mom lost a lot of money paying for his funeral and now shy is working on a ship for a summer job and in a few months he will have anuff money to help his mom and sister with the bills.when he first starts he this how bad can it be. Bikinis, free food, maybe even a girl of two, every cruise has different  passengers, after all, but as days go by it gets harder and harder. Shy only days out at sea when the big one hit, an earthquake more massive than ever recorded. He finds out his crush also works on the ship named carmen and he starts to have a sexual relationship with her and she has a boyfriend. He finds out his nephew has the same disease his grandpa has and shy cashed his check for the basketball game he won to pay for his nephew medical bill.
