true legend by mike lupica
in a well-crafted sports story, a teen basketball phenomenon learns not to take his own superstar future for granted.
In the book true legend by mike Lupica, the main character Drew Robinson is a high school basketball player who has dreamed of going pro. He found a man on a old abandoned basketball court at first he thought it was a homeless man, until he saw the man dunking, shooting and doing all kinds of tricks drew has seen a real NBA players do. So he thought to himself "that cant be a homeless man with those kinds of skills . So he sat there and watch the man play. At first the man would go out on the court and play after that drew would try to practice all the tricks the man did.Drew is an avid basketball player which teaches the reader that hard work pays off.
For basketball drew Robinson, there is nothing more true than his talent on the court. Its the kind that comes along once in a life time. His mom wants him to stay grounded that is until a washed up basketball legend takes drew under his wing and trains him to be the best. Drew is able to get past players even on double team he would also take the other teams big scorer which shows he is a good defender. He gets a lot of his points by passing the ball to other players which gives him assist.
This book made me realized that you should always show good sportsmanship and never give up. hard work pays off because the more you work the more u can achieve, not just in basketball but in other things like school, jobs ex... its important that u never give up because things mite get hard but soon will become easy. in a well-crafted sports story, a teen basketball phenomenon learns not to take his own superstar future for granted.
